Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (a.s) was a child whom the Great Prophet (pbuh) referred to as a great personality, certainly these affectionate encounters that were never expressed at a specific time or within a certain range indicated that the Prophet (pbuh) wanted to reveal the truth and introduce imam Hasan’s high character to the Muslims more than ever.

A Guide for Muslim Community

Hudhayfa says: One day the Companions of the Prophet (pbuh) gathered near the mount Hara to meet Mohammad (p.b.u.h).  When Hasan joined them with a certain dignity, The Prophet (pbuh) addressed everyone with a kind look at him and said, “Be aware that he will be your guide after me, he is a gift from the Lord of the world to me, he will familiarize people with the remaining works of me. He will bring my Tradition back to the Islamic  community, and his actions indicate my actions. May God grant  his mercy and blessing on him who knows His right and respects him for the sake of me.”

The Great Reformer

Historians have written that one day the Prophet (pbuh) expressed his love toward Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (a.s) and said:  This is my son, and soon God will establish peace  between two Muslim groups by him” It should be noted that this was a prediction from the Prophet (pbuh) that there will be war and bloodshed between two groups of Muslims in the future, and Imam al-Hasan (a.s) will establish peace and friendship between them.

According to history, by observing the treachery of his companions and inappropriate situation for war with Mu’awiya, Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (a.s) refused to argue with Mu’awiya,  and agreed with the peace treaty proposed by that tyrant . As a result of this peace, He saved Muslims from the influx of foreigners and prevented war and bloodshed.

Witness to Prophetic Mission

The following is what Hudhayfa quoted: “Suddenly an Arab man came to the prophet and shouted, “Which of you are Muhammad?” the companions of the Prophet (pbuh) went forward sadly and said, “What do you want?” He replied, “You have claimed to be a prophet. What is the reason and the proof?” the Prophet (pbuh) said, “If you wish, a member of mine will inform you that my reason will be clearer.” Hasan ! The Arab man, who thought  Prophet (pbuh) was mocking him, said, “You can’t handle it yourself, and leave it to a child  to talk to me?”

The Prophet (s) said, “You will soon find him aware of everything.” according to the prediction of the Prophet (pbuh), Imam al-Hasan (a.s) rose from the place and spoke of the situation of the Arab man and how he was trapped along the way, in a way that surprised him and said, “O son! how do you know this?! Did you reveal the secrets of my heart? It’s as if you’ve been with me! Do you know the unseen?” he said, then converted to Islam. By the way, Imam al-Hasan (a.s) with these statements was the reason for the prophethood of the Prophet (pbuh), because this small member of the Prophet (pbuh) showed so much knowledge that  the enemy  surrendered and converted to Islam.

Imam Hasan(a.s) in the Eyes of Ali(a.s)

Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (a.s) was a very great and unique person in the eyes of Imam Ali (a.s), and from an early age when he recited divine verses to his mother, Fatima Zahra (s.a), he recognized this precious gem and during the years they were together, always defined, praised and commended his son. Even in some cases, he would leave judgment or answering  scientific questions to his son. Several  examples indicate his scientific character and high position in the presence  of his father, Ali(a.s) and other Muslims.

Teaching Divine Teachings

One of the best evidences and reasons for the high character of Imam Hasan Mujtaba (a.s) is that from the very beginning of his youth, also a childhood, he generously provided what he had taken from the mouth of the Prophet (pbuh) to others,  many writers  narrated about this blessed class, character of Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (a.s) and his high position in the Islamic community.
